The design intent of this 4-storey, 32 unit apartment is to achieve net-zero energy by utilizing geothermal and solar energy systems. The building enevelope will be built using CLT and SIP construction.  Materials selection will adhere to strict Living Building Challenge Red List criteria, providing superior indoor air quality by using environmentally responsible material finishes.

 

The building will offer 1 and 2 bedroom options and social spaces on the main floor and basement. Landscaping and permeable surfaces will increase ground water retention and reduce storm water run-off. Rain water harvesting and greywater recycling are also being considered for the project. We are still playing with the building form and gauging interest for a community garden.
