treaty 6 governance centre

Onion Lake, SK

2,200 m²

Canceled

This project involved the design of a new centre for the Onion Lake Cree Nation, that will be built using CLT construction.

Building spaces included administrative offices, grand foyer and hall, an Elders Room incorporated into a First Nation’s Museum, feature 350 person hall, kitchen, and atrium spaces to encourage the interaction of people as they use the building.  Every individual office was designed with a line of sight to the outdoors and access to fresh air by operable windows.

The building would use geothermal and solar PV to meet the building's energy demand.  DSA estimated the building energy consumption will perform 70% better than the NRCAN average for similar building type.  A high-efficiency mechancical system, daylighting, LED lighting and air-tight, super-insulation were some of the strategies contributing to the reduced energy demand.
